Historical source: West Java Tourism and Culture Office. The pin uses the station object's coordinates in the Wikimedia Commons category, not a surveyed entrance. Confirm current train schedules, access to rooms and facilities with the operator; the 2022 photographs do not establish present conditions. Remain in public areas and follow staff directions.

Why it matters

At Garut Station, the retained old building and working platforms bring two eras of travel in Priangan into view. The station began operating on 14 August 1889. After a long pause in service, the line reopened on 24 March 2022; the old building was kept as station facilities were updated.

The station offers a way to understand how rail connected Garut's town centre with other places and shaped journeys into the surrounding highlands. Photographs from April 2022 show the facade, departure gate and platform shortly after reopening. Notice the architecture from areas open to the public while giving priority to passengers.
